Job Description

 
Role: 
 
Manages the operations of a full service branch library and coordinates district-wide services and programs.
 
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
 
30% - PUBLIC SERVICE MANAGEMENT – Sets standards for the operation of the branch and District-wide efforts; develops and implements concepts, practices, techniques and innovations to improve the quality of service, challenges operating processes for greater efficiency and effectiveness, and facilitates problem solving.  E
 
15% - RESOURCE MANAGEMENT – Develops and manages an operating budget, oversees local collection management processes, facilitates the flow of information, distributes authority, and allocates resources in order to provide the necessary resources to accomplish the goals of the District.  E
 
15% - SUPERVISION OF STAFF – Gets information, makes sense of it, sets objectives, organizes resources and makes decisions, coach staff and provides feedback, manages conflict and appraises performance in order to optimize the expected performance of staff.  E
 
15% - PUBLIC RELATIONS – Represents the branch and District to community, business, government and social groups, agencies and associations through public speaking engagements, committee participation and membership affiliation, and provides formal responses to complaints and compliments expressed by the public.  E
 
10% - OPERATIONS CONTROL – Sets goals for the branch in support of District goals, establishes timelines for completion, monitors achievement, and oversees processes by reviewing reports from staff and Finance in order to control operations and achieve desired outcomes for the library.  E
 
10% - PATRON ASSISTANCE – Resolves patron complaints; assists patrons in the use of library materials and technology by guiding them in searching the catalog and stacks, accessing databases, and navigating the Internet in order to locate resources in the collection and on the World Wide Web.  E
 
5% - BACK-UP – Performs the duties of direct and indirect reports in their absence to ensure the proper functioning of the organizational unit.  N

The Community

Join a progressive library district located in Northern Colorado.  High Plains Library District is seeking Library Manager applicants with a passion for high quality library service, an eye for programming, and skilled in the arts of supervision & mentoring for our Centennial Park Library in Greeley, Colorado.   Centennial Park is one of four libraries providing service in the Greeley/Evans area of the High Plains Library District. This neighborhood library strongly emphasizes services to children and houses approximately 130,000 items including movies, music, magazines, and plenty of books. The library features a small computer lab, meeting spaces and will soon be host to our pilot POD (Place of Discovery) lab.   With the expansive prairie out one door and the towering Rocky Mountains out the other, Weld County has unlikely combinations that complement each other beautifully. Recreational opportunities are almost endless. Much of Weld County is within an hour's distance of the majestic Rocky Mountains and sports fans don't have far to go to cheer for their favorite professional teams in Denver.
