Marmot Library Network is looking for a Union Catalog Coordinator with a proactive, team spirited attitude that can bring experience and initiative to this expanding and successful organization. The successful candidate will perform a variety of ILS administration and support tasks.
JOB TITLE: UNION CATALOG COORDINATOR
CLASS: Excempt, full time (40 hours/week)
MANAGER: USER SERVICES MANAGER
PURPOSE: The Union Catalog Coordinator (UCC) provides consultation and direct support services to users in member libraries. The UCC guides the work of some member committees, supplements user training, leads the development of policies for use of the system, manages the union catalog, and evaluates new products and services.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters Degree in Library Science
- Minimum of 3 years experience managing or administering a Millennium or Sierra ILS
- Experience with other systems supported by Marmot is preferred
- In depth knowledge of electronic resource cataloging (i.e metadata)
- In depth knowledge of MARC, AACR2, RDA, FRBR, and tools used to assist with cataloging best practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct support to member library personnel, answering user questions and resolving user problems.
- Monitor user satisfaction and customer service objectives by designing and implementing surveys, and reporting results.
- Share responsibilities related to Sierra with the User Services Manager, including setting up and maintaining system parameters.
- Ensure integrity of the ILS database; create and maintain load tables and SCAT tables.
- Work with the Library Software Trainer to supplement training on Database Maintenance and Cataloging guidelines
- Represent Marmot in professional meetings and vendor user groups.
- Help to plan and implement new functions and upgrades to the ILS for member libraries in coordination with the User Services Manager
- Maintain and increase proficiency in the ILS by reading software documentation, attending online courses, and using the system.
- Test new software releases to identify bugs and problems.
- Train and advise members in the use of MarcEdit.
- Contribute to user and technical documentation in wikis and web sites.
- Handle after-hours and weekend calls in rotation with colleagues.
- Assist colleagues in other projects or tasks that may be assigned.
Additional Info & Requirements
- Basic understanding of computers, networks, and operating systems
- Expertise with scripting or programming is desirable
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, ect.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of public, school, and academic libraries
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Leadership skills for working with committees and task forces
- Ability to conduct emergency procedures when necessary
