Job Description

Incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day operation and management of a branch library. Duties include: staff scheduling, attention to physical branch facility; selecting, training, developing and evaluating branch staff; providing direct patron service; and instructing patrons in locating information and the use of library resources. The Branch Manager is responsible for branch work plan and budget, implementing and evaluating branch services, programs and promoting system-wide branch services and programs. As part of the branch services team, the position works closely with other branch managers and library departments to assure services are responsive to patron needs. Interprets and implements library policy and procedures as well as develops them as part of the library management team. Participates in library wide planning and assures that library resources are fully accessible to the public. Represents the library in community organizations in the service area.

Additional Info & Requirements

A broad knowledge of current public library procedures and practices is essential. Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating library programs and collections. Experience in working within an automated library system environment preferred. Experience in the use of automated reference and informational resources as well as traditional print reference material to assist patrons in information searching is preferred.
