We are currently seeking an enthusiastic supporter of Douglas County Libraries, to assist the communications department share our story internally and externally in multiple formats. This position works closely as part of the Community Relations team, and in the larger organization, to develop effective, creative communications. Through words, you impart the spirit of Douglas County Libraries in our print and online environments and promotions.

 WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• High-level interpersonal and social skills that demonstrate tact, diplomacy and the ability to cooperate with others in a variety of settings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point. Working knowledge of social media a plus, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Flickr, plus Google analytics. The ability to learn library software, including Evanced program management software and digital signage software.
• Ability to appraise the effectiveness of information received, as well as the effectiveness of outbound communications; problem-solving skills are required; ability to manage workload to firm and specific deadlines.
• Excellent writing, editing, and presentational communication skills.

 ADDITIONALLY, YOU:

• Assist with creative campaign creation and execution, especially as related to campaign messages (i.e., copy).
• Participate in and contribute to department activities as requested, including library events, meetings, road shows, planning exercises, etc.
• Work effectively independently or cooperatively as part of a team, maintaining effective working relationships to complete assigned tasks and accomplish job responsibilities.

Starting salary: $21.05 (Commensurate to Qualifications)

Douglas County Libraries has been blazing a trail and thriving in Douglas County for decades, due very much to the generous support, patronage and growth of our community. Douglas County Libraries is the fourth largest library system in Colorado. Our mission is to be a passionate advocate for literacy and lifelong learning, and we play a vital role in the life of our community. We lend more than eight million books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, e-books, and audiobooks every year, including more children’s materials than any other Colorado library.

Our seven locations offer a large collection of popular materials, children’s books, reference materials, downloadable audio, video and e-books, wireless access, public computers for kids and adults, and friendly, professional staff. Study rooms and large public meeting rooms are available to the public. We offer reading programs for all ages, used book sales, more than 75 Storytimes each week, writing groups, book clubs and a wide variety of fun and interesting programs for all ages.

Online resources include research databases, homework help, the library catalog, downloadable audiobooks and e-books, account access for reserving and renewing items, reading recommendations, links to Douglas County history and community information. We also offer reference assistance via phone, email or text, and access to accounts and many services via DCL to Go, our mobile smart phone application.
