Job Description

Youth Services Librarian

The Rachel Kohl Community Library, located in Glen Mills, Pa, is conducting a search for a Youth Services Librarian. The Rachel Kohl Community Library serves the Pennsylvania Delaware County Communities of Bethel, Chadds Ford, Chester Heights, Concord, and Thornbury. JOB SUMMARY:

  • Plans and coordinates the operation of the Children’s Room and the Young Adult Section
  • Maintains the Children’s and Young Adult collection
  • Serves as Youth Services reference librarian by assisting children and their parents/caregivers
  • Plans, executes, advertises, and measures children’s programs.
  • Prepares and delivers a regular series of storytime programs for babies, toddlers, preschoolers and kindergartners
  • Attend regularly Delaware County Youth Services meetings
  • Prepares regular reports for Library Director
  • Cooperates as a team member with all Library staff in performing any professional or non-professional duty essential to the achievement of efficient library operations.
  • Performs outreach services

Reports to Director, with oversight from Library Board of Trustees.

Full time position. 40 hours/week. Occasional evenings and weekends.  Salary commensurate with experience.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Qualifications: Must have a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution, or be within six months of completing a degree and have youth services experience. All library positions require a PA state criminal background check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance and a FBI fingerprint based federal criminal history background check.

Skills: Community oriented.  Creativity and problem-solving abilities. Superior communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to function as a team member. Computer skills, including word processing and social media.
