Job Description

The Auraria Library is searching for an energetic and innovative librarian to fill our Teaching & Learning Librarian position. The Teaching and Learning Librarian is responsible for developing and delivering one-time, course-integrated instruction sessions to undergraduate and graduate students. The successful candidate is expected to participate in assessment to support the continuous improvement of the instructional program and articulate the Library’s impact on student learning. Participating in various outreach activities to build campus and community partnerships and creating and maintaining web guides, tutorials, and other digital learning objects are also responsibilities within this position. As a library faculty member, the incumbent will participate on library and campus-wide committees. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing, desire to work in a highly collaborative environment, and have the ability to prioritize various teaching assignments, departmental initiatives, and outreach. The Teaching and Learning Librarian will engage in fulfilling the research and educational missions of the Auraria Library and the three institutions on the Auraria Campus – the University of Colorado Denver, the Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the Community College of Denver. This position is in the Education, Research, and Access Services division of the Library and reports to the Education and Outreach Services, Department Head.

Compensation: starting at $50,000 commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school or program or equivalent. Degree must be conferred before the start date of July 1, 2016. (Start date is negotiable.)
  • Experience teaching information literacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching information literacy in an academic library or higher education setting.
  • Experience implementing learning assessments.
  • Experience implementing or facilitating outreach activities.
  • Experience with creating digital learning objects, tutorials, or modules.
