Job Description

Instructor/ Instruction Librarian

Kraemer Family Library, University of Colorado Colorado Springs

Kraemer Family Library seeks an enthusiastic, innovative, and collaborative instruction librarian to help support and develop the library instruction program at UCCS through the application of information literacy standards, instructional technologies, pedagogies, and assessment. This non-tenure track position will start at the rank of Instructor. Recent graduates from an ALA accredited library school are encouraged to apply.

Position Responsibilities:

Reports to: Director of Instructional and Research Services

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with providing face-to-face instruction for the UCCS Writing Program and Gateway courses
  2. Assist in the development of online learning materials, i.e. Libguides, videos, tutorials
  3. Serve as liaison to one or more academic units, providing collection development, library instruction and research assistance.
  4. Provide reference service 6-12 hours weekly including nights and weekends.
  5. Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and goals for instructional and research services.
  6. Collection development responsibilities for the Kraemer Intergenerational fund
  7. Maintain inventory, access, and organization of the Intergeneration Foundation archives located within University Archives in the library
  8. Develop activities to promote the Intergenerational collection and Intergeneration Month in October.
  9.  

Service responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the development of library-wide policies, procedures, and goals
  2. Serve on committees, submit reports, and undertake special projects as specified by the Faculty Director of Instructional and Research Services or the Library Dean
  3. Serve on library, campus, university, and professional committees
     

Additional Info & Requirements

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience/coursework in library instruction and reference services.
  • Experience with emerging technologies in the library environment.
  • Experience in an academic library
  • Experience with graphic and video design software, and other multimedia tools.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to work successfully with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a constantly changing environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply emerging trends and technologies in library instruction and reference service
