Job Description

Provides customer service and technical assistance in the Library Technology and Innovation (LTI) Division.  Responsible for graphic design and creation using desktop publishing software, web app development, various video productions, web design, upkeep and social media communications. 
The salary range for this position is $20.39 - $29.62 hourly with an expected hiring range of $20.39 - $25.00 depending on qualifications and experience.

 Our Position:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide service desk coverage and provides customer service in three (3) technology labs.
  • Assist library users of all ages to select and locate media resources, demonstrate use of library equipment and technology including video cameras, scanners, 3D printers, public access computers, software and the internet.
  • Provide customer service throughout the library with e-readers, cell phones, tablets, laptops, Wi-Fi and other patron devices.
  • Search for, locate and retrieve information/materials in answer to questions from the public and other City employees.
  • Maintain the Library's webpage in Drupal content management system and create and implement library web apps.
  • Design and create original graphics and marketing material for library programming using desktop publishing software including posters, flyers, invitations, brochures, banners and postcards; assists with coordinating the distribution of these materials.
  • Ensure consistent branding for all division marketing materials.
  • Complete weekly deposit.
  • Explain and interpret policies and procedures to the public.
  • Assist with special events, organize files, serve on City and/or library committees, open and close department.
  • Assist with general budget planning for the LTI division.
  • Manage public courses including working with vendors, scheduling, planning, preparing and as required teaching.
  • Innovate new library technology resources and programs.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees: planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 Video Production:

  • As required, produce City of Loveland broadcasts and Loveland Public Library video projects utilizing a multi camera set up, switcher panel with built in monitoring, CG and Clip Store, video and audio routing switcher, video system controller, pan/tilt camera operation, remote desktop and tabletop microphones, and a presentation system including projectors, LCD TVs, and distributed VGA processors.

 OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • May supervise and/or work with volunteers or oversight on specific LTI projects.
  • Complete short term projects as assigned.

This position is a first-line supervisor responsible for non-exempt and/or non-supervisory exempt employee(s).   Highest level supervised:  non-exempt employee(s).

Ability to write/maintain software code (Drupal & PHP).  Overall understanding of, and willingness to, learn a wide range of technology, computer systems, and computer peripherals is a necessary attribute.  Ability to use, understand and troubleshoot a variety of audio/visual equipment and software including, but not limited to, remote camera setup, broadcast switcher and CG creation.  Knowledge of publication design, web and social media software.  Knowledge of computer systems, spelling, punctuation, grammar and business English.  

Education and/or experience:
Bachelor's degree in computer related technology or marketing (CIS, CS, IS, Computer Graphics, Marketing) preferred.  Two (2) years professional experience with MS Office applications, Internet browsers and related applications software required. 
Experience with desktop publishing software required, preferably Adobe In-Design, Photoshop, and Illustrator.  Experience with WEB design & social media required.  Formal training in desktop publishing, social media and web design preferred.  Experience in marketing, computer graphics, broadcast or video editing & production preferred.    A degree in computer related technology or marketing may substitute for experience requirement.

Working Environment and Required Background Checks:

Works in a dynamic library environment in the LTI division with extensive public contact, which requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time, reaching, and repetitive keyboard motion. Stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and lifting (up to approximately 30 pounds) required. Ability to move quickly and efficiently throughout work area is a necessity. Required to be able to visually scan computer screens and library materials for necessary information. During City Council, Planning Commission, and other video projects will be stationed for an extended amount of time in an air-conditioning controlled 68 degree room. Will be expected to perform duties during both peak periods when customer service activity is fast paced and intense or during relaxed periods. This position requires working evenings and weekends.

Including, but not limited to, Internet, PC and Mac computers printers, fax, photocopier, paper cutter, 3D printer and other MakerSpace robotic and innovative products, DVD and CD players, , telephone, library carts, library materials (books, books on CD, DVDs, etc.).
