Colorado Department of Corrections has a vacancy for a Library Technician II at the Colorado State Penitentiary. This position works directly with offenders, providing public/school-type (not law) library services to adult male offenders in a state correctional facility where over 90% of the population uses the library. Responsibilities also include supervising, training and evaluating offender library workers and using the ILS to maintain cataloging and circulation data, and for statistical reporting. This is a great place to hone your skills and develop new ones.
Feeling a little hesitant at the thought of working in corrections? Don’t be: you’ll go through a Basic Training Academy and learn the skills you need to be safe! Prior correctional experience is not required.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word: must have the ability to create, edit and manipulate data;
- Ability to Correspond and share documents via e-mail;

- Exceptional interpersonal/customer service skills;
- Ability to train/instruct others;
- Active listening skills: must have the ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate.
