Job Description
This position assists and collaborates with the Director of Learning Resources to provide library services and resources for MCC, including all college centers, as well as the general public. Provides reference/research services to library patrons; provides access to and manages the MCC library collection; coordinates collection development and management activities; develops instructional materials and teaches research skills; participates in strategic planning, coordination of library services, circulation, and management of the LRC’s website content; and manages the library’s automated system.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with two years of recent library experience. Knowledge of general library principles, practices and procedures. Experience using automated library systems. Proficient in office technologies including but not limited to MS Office, search engines, and library databases. Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills. Effective problem-solving skills. Detail oriented, accurate, strong customer service skills, and ability to work well with diverse populations. Ability to work collaboratively to develop positive working relationships. Strong organizational and time management skills. Adaptability, including the ability to work independently and multi-task. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects and compliance with deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or a related field. Experience in library work at a supervisory or administrative level. Experience with cataloging according to national standards. Experience in providing reference assistance and information literacy instruction. Experience working in an academic library or higher education setting. Knowledge of Auto-Graphics automated library systems.
