Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide training and assistance in reference/research activities to faculty and students, in both one-on-one and group situations.

Teach research techniques as needed and requested by college classroom teachers, working with them to focus on the print and electronic resources most useful for students in completing class assignments. Develop training tools as needed for students. Assist with assessment of library instruction.

Manage electronic resources licensing and renewals including contacts with vendors and support. Configure electronic resources interfaces on vendor sites including ebooks, ejournals, online databases and discovery services. Troubleshoot electronic resource problems and work with vendor support and campus information technology as needed to resolve problems.
Maintain and report statistics on electronic resource use. Provide metrics for evaluating return on investment of electronic resources. Recommend budget for electronic resources.

Advise librarians, library staff and other constituents on use of databases and search strategies.

Collaborate with other librarians on electronic resource evaluation, selection, and management of library’s web presence and other initiatives.

Provide collection development for assigned departments. Serve as collection development liaison for assigned departments and oversee resource purchases made by faculty and assist them in selection of items as needed.
Assist the Head of Library Reference Services in the development and assessment of the Library Reference collection.
Promote library services to the campus community.
Serve on library and campus committees as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.

Required:

Knowledge of standard computer software programs, the internet, and electronic resources. Knowledge of library resources, databases and search techniques. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to function as a member of a team.

Preferred:

Reference and Instruction experience. Knowledge of electronic resource management interfaces, Ebsco e-admin and Discovery. Knowledge of HTML sufficient for configuration of electronic resource interfaces. Knowledge of EZproxy configuration.
