Job Description

This half-time (.50 FTE) position assists with the withdrawal of library materials; loads preliminary records for gift books into the catalog and works with others in the cataloging unit to maintain the accuracy of the catalog, statistics keeping and other tasks necessary to fulfill the mission of technical services.  Duties include:

1) Physically removes and marks for withdrawl items chosen for removal from the collection. Updates catalog records to indicate that an item has been withdrawn and disposes of these materials in the appropriate manner.

2) Works with Library Technician I in Acquisitions to process gift books as they are received, including the organization of gift materials so that the most appropriate ones are cataloged first. Creates access to gift materials by searching and downloading bibliographic records from the OCLC cataloging database or creating brief bibliographic records in the library online system.

3)  Helps maintain use statistics for electronic resources

4)  Collaborates as a library team member in activities related to goal setting, space allocation, planning, staff searches, and advisory committees. 

5) Works on collection projects as needed.

Additional Info & Requirements

Minimum Requirements:  One year of general library experience, including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials.  (Part-time work experience will be prorated.) 

Substitution:  One year of college course work including six semester hours of library science coursework may substitute for the general library experience.  Transcripts of course work must be submitted as an attachment to your profile.
