Job Description

This 25 hour/week position performs a wide variety of clerical and technical work in the Technical Services division of the library including, but not limited to, cataloging, proofreading, data entry and label printing.  This position reports to the Library Technology Manager.  

The salary range for this position is $14.57 - $20.43 hourly with an expected hiring range of $14.57 - $17.50 depending on qualifications and experience.
 Our Position: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs data entry on the library's computer; processes all formats of book and audio-visual materials to prepare for public use. Assists in the cataloging of new library materials by checking and proofreading the work of the catalogers.  Prints labels and adds radio frequency tags for all materials. Mends all formats of library materials.  Responsible for processing discards; creates lost and/or billed reports and deletes records from database. Catalogs paperback books for multiple divisions. Adds duplicate and replacement items into the database.
 
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
May assume additional duties in absence of regular processing and mending volunteers. May serve on library and city committees on an ad hoc basis.  May assist in acquisitions and receiving functions by opening boxes, verifying invoices and changing status on computer SUPERVISORY DUTIES: None

Education and/or experience:
Two (2) years college coursework or Associates degree required. One (1) year library or closely related experience required. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may substitute for education requirement on a year-for-year basis. Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
 
Licensure and/or certifications: None
 Working Environment and Required Background Checks: Performs medium physical work in a library/office setting where the incumbent may sit in front of a computer monitor much of the time.  Requires standing and bending as well as moving and/or positioning boxes up to 25 pounds and pushing/pulling carts of up to 50 pounds. Requires the placement and retrieval of materials on library shelves, which are located from 5 inches to 80 inches above the floor. Loveland Public Library serves as the single municipal library of Loveland, Colorado with a service area of 72,000.
