Director of Library Services

POSITION TITLE: Director of Library Services

POSITION #: 200170

POSITION STATUS: Exempt 

FSLA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Vice President of Academic Affairs

SUPERVISES: Exempt staff, classified staff, and work study or hourly employees

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Library Services provides leadership for all aspects of library services, resources, and programs in support of student learning, academic programs, and faculty teaching. As an advocate for the library, the Director develops and maintains positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff on campus, as well as with the community at large.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Facilitate the continuing transformation of the library by stewarding and expanding access to electronic information resources, and guiding students and other users in their effective and appropriate use;

- Design and deliver a range of innovative instruction, library programming, and services that facilitate the curricular and research needs of students and faculty in the STEM and CTE disciplines;

- Develop, implement and assess proactive, customer-oriented library services, including the Information Literacy

- instruction program;

- Explore consortial opportunities to ensure alignment with the vision and mission of the college;

- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships within the college and the community.

Required Qualifications: (In order to advance in this search process, your resume must demonstrate that you meet all of the following required qualifications)

- Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution

- At least 3 years of professional library experience in an academic setting

Preferred Qualifications:

- Knowledge of academic library reference and research methods, including the uses of electronic information sources;

- Ability to support diverse populations and wide-ranging needs among students, faculty, and the community;

- Ability to devise research strategies and to prepare subject guides, digital learning objects and other materials to support the information needs of faculty and students;

- Ability to employ systematic planning and assessment techniques;

- Experience managing and supervising a library staff;

- Experience managing a budget and inventory;

- Experience with teaching Information Literacy;

- Understanding of Fair Use Laws and Copyright;

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Salary Range: Anticipated Salary range is in the mid $50's to $60,000 depending on experience and education. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan. Leave and holiday benefits are also included. For more information on the insurance benefits, click on the following link: Benefits
