Job Description

Logistics (noun): The detailed coordination of a complex operation involving many people, facilities, or supplies.

If the thought of managing lots of moving parts, timelines, communication plans, purchasing, and event orders makes you excited, then please read some more. If you’re already in a panic, this job is not for you.

The Colorado State Library is looking for a part-time temporary project coordinator to manage a series of grant-funded events known as the Research Institute for Public Libraries (RIPL): The Next Wave. RIPL was designed to provide data and evaluation training for public library professionals. The first RIPL was held in 2015 and sold out in 12 minutes. The second event, scheduled for 2016, sold out in 90 minutes.

There is clearly a demand for the content and thus, the Next Wave is coming. The Next Wave will include both regional and national events that will vary in size, yet all will have the same result, creating a data “ripl” effect that is crucial to public libraries.

Where do you fit in?

We need someone who can coordinate all of the pieces it takes to put on national events and replicate them on a smaller scale. That means guiding our regional partners with planning; including choosing venues, menus, room set up, AV, and more. An ideal candidate is someone who is great at juggling a lot of people, places, and things. While all the events won’t happen at the same time, each will be a little different and require a different approach for coordination.

One more thing…

We need you to make the RIPL experience extend beyond the last throw of the stone in Atlanta in 2018. How will you do this? By creating an online community of practice where ideas and inspiration from RIPL flourish.

Ready? Let’s go!
