Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to the team, including development and expansion of outreach services
- Ensure that designated populations have access to library resources by overseeing and managing outreach visits, programs, and events
- Conduct demographic and community needs analyses
- Establish well-defined department safety protocols
- Responsible for the outreach vehicles
- Responsible for the department budget, approving and monitoring department expenditures, and assuring efficient utilization of applicable library economical resources
- Perform a variety of supervisory duties for team, including leading, managing, scheduling, training, staff development, performance assessments, and making recommendations with regards to salary, discipline, hiring, and promotions
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community leaders and organizations to plan, develop, and implement new outreach services
- Develop and implement department procedures and practices
- Oversee and manage the talking book program
- Oversee and manage volunteers in the outreach department
- Collaborate with other library staff to ensure coordination of services
- Other duties as requested or assigned

Qualifications:
- Prior library outreach experience to diverse communities is needed
- Prior supervisory experience is required
- Must have a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, be able to drive the library vehicles, and be continuously insurable on the vehicles
- A knowledge of the specialized needs in outreach services, strong service ethic, customer service skills, presentation skills, and training skills are needed
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of supervisory and leadership skills
- Must be able to effectively problem solve complex problems, handle multiple projects, make logical, independent, and sound decisions, exercise initiative, and be organized, efficient, and creative
- Must have excellent project management skills
- Must have an excellent knowledge of literature and other library collection formats for all age groups
- Must have excellent computer skills
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and analytical skills
- Must be able to hear, read, write, speak, and understand English effectively
- Must have sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to meet job requirements
- Regular and predictable physical attendance is required
The Community
The MidPointe Library System service area covers the eastern part of Butler County Ohio, which is located between Cincinnati and Dayton. As such, we enjoy not only the amenities where our branch locations reside, but the many amenities that both of these large cities offer.
Our four branches are located in Middletown, Monroe, Trenton, and West Chester. The main library is in Middletown and houses technical services, accounting, outreach, IT, PR, HR, and administration.
