Job Description

Working in the Acquisitions team offers the opportunity to learn about other library departments through daily work in addition to acquisitions. This is “behind the scenes” work that does not include service desk duties or work directly with patrons. Work includes, but is not limited to, processing and check in serials, shelves periodicals, repairs books for bindery by following established criteria, packs, ships, and receives items from bindery, and processes incoming and outgoing mail. 

  • Processing of newspapers.
  • Daily sorting and processing of incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Shelving/Re-Shelving of serials including periodicals, microfiche and microfilm.
  • Shelf-reading and clean-up of bound and current periodicals.
  • Collecting WAM statistics.
  • Pulling periodicals for retention pulls.
  • Bindery assessment and in-house repair.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Schedule: 10-15 hours per week for fall semester. 

Required Hours: Flexibility of hours Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM. Preferred hours Monday, Wednesday & Friday. 

Compensation: $10.25/hr commensurate with skills and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in at least one credit at a higher education institution
