Summary Description:
The Director of Tutt Library provides strategic vision and leadership for the library, working effectively with faculty and staff across campus as an advocate for the library in accord with the College’s mission.
Additional Info & Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program
• A minimum of 8 years work experience including a minimum of 4 years’ managerial experience in an academic library setting.
• Demonstrates strong leadership and commitment to the values of a liberal arts education.
• Significant experience supervising librarians and staff with extensive knowledge of all aspects of library work.
• Demonstrated success in creating and managing extensive budgets and negotiating with library vendors and publishers.
• Demonstrated ability to guide the integration of appropriate and emerging technologies into the services and operation of the library.
• Proven ability to inspire trust and to support library staff in adapting to changes in their work environment and within a system of participatory management and collegial governance.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships with campus departments, faculty and senior staff.
• Commitment to upholding the library’s long-standing tradition of exemplary public service and experience working with consortia and other resource sharing groups.
• An understanding of current issues and trends in scholarly communication and copyright.
• Dedicated to both print and digital resources; understands and embraces open source software and supports open access and Digital CC, the College’s digital instructional repository.
• Ability to bring creative ideas to a newly renovated library.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by Colorado College’s motor vehicle insurance carrier.
Preferred Qualifications:
Administrative experience in a liberal arts college.
