Collection Review Specialist (temporary position)

Job Description
University of Colorado Denver’s Auraria Library seeks a temporary part-time Collection Review Specialist to assist with the removal of print theses and dissertations from the circulating collection. In support of this, the position would also create Sierra records for the online dissertations housed in Special Collections. A second project would involve the removal of print Colorado government publications from the circulating collection.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Performs original and copy cataloging using OCLC and Sierra
- Oversees the maintenance of bibliographic and item records in Skyline, the library's online catalog
- Documents project procedures and compiles statistics on finished tasks
Compensation: $16.00/hour.
Work Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week for 3-6 months.
Start Date: As soon as practical.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Cataloging experience in a library or enrollment in a graduate level cataloging or metadata course
- Thorough knowledge of cataloging procedures and principles as defined in AACR2 (including LC rule interpretations), the MARC bibliographic record, and understanding of the holdings and authorities records
- Demonstrated knowledge of cataloging utilities such as OCLC Connexion and integrated library systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in library or information science, or enrolled in an MSLIS program
- Experience with Innovative Interfaces (III)
- Two years professional cataloging experience in an academic environment
