Job Description

The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries invites applications from collaborative and innovative candidates for the position of Learning Coordinator, a senior instructor position in the University Libraries’ Teaching and Learning Unit. The position is part of a dynamic team of librarians and staff dedicated to designing, coordinating, and strategically implementing innovative educational outreach and information literacy initiatives. The Learning Coordinator will support student-centered learning through reference services and research consultations as well as a significant number of seminars, classes, online guides, and workshops tailored for students and scholars in a variety of fields. The ideal candidate has the ability and drive to rapidly learn and apply new pedagogies, educational technologies, teaching techniques and methodologies, as well as a strong desire to share this knowledge with others.  The Learning Coordinator position will be responsible for core operational tasks such as guiding learning spaces and tracking teaching statistics. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching, a strong commitment to student learning, and a desire to build meaningful connections with faculty, staff, and students. 

Appointment and Salary:

Successful candidates will be appointed as a full-time (12 month) senior instructor.  The minimum starting salary is $50,500. Benefits include 22 working days of vacation, ten paid holidays, liberal sick leave, university group health care plans, group life insurance, TIAA-CREF administered retirement/annuity, and support for scholarly/professional activities.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and advocate for an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited library program or equivalent.
  • Experience and/or coursework with information literacy or literacy studies. 
  • Knowledge of educational theories, pedagogies, and applications in higher education.
  • Awareness of emerging educational technologies as well as traditional course management systems.
  • Ability to develop innovative ways to identify and meet students’ evolving needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, facilitation, and communication skills, particularly in efforts of educational collaboration.
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility to carry out project-based work, both independently and collaboratively.

Desirable Qualifications:

Evidence of any of the following will enhance a candidacy:

  • One year of relevant experience in an academic or research library.
  • Familiarity with guiding professional documents on information literacy from organizations such as the ACRL, AASL, AACU, IFLA, SCONUL.
  • Enthusiasm and creativity in designing learning experiences.
  • Prior teaching experience with young adult, adult, high school, undergraduate, or graduate students.
  • Experience articulating emerging pedagogies and learning technologies to faculty, professional staff, and campus partners.
  • Experience and/or coursework in educational theory, learning sciences, digital pedagogy, or instructional design.
