Job Description

The JCPL Communications Division is seeking a full-time Graphic Design & Production Manager.  This position reports to the JCPL Director of Communications and performs strategic, managerial, supervisory, technical, design, planning, production and coordination work for JCPL.  If you are a creative, passionate leader with a proven track record in graphic design, who believes in the power of libraries to connect and empower their communities, then this could be the job for you!

Essential Duties

  • Manages the design, printing, and distribution of all printed JCPL materials, including marketing and advertising support for programs, signage, and merchandising.
  • Schedules print and production work and determines whether requests are best handled internally or contracted to outside vendors.
  • Provides graphic design support to JCPL campaigns, programs, events, resources and services.
  • Contributes to the development of brand positioning and guidelines and ensures adherence to JCPL's brand,
  • Provides graphic design support to JCPL's digital channels, including the website, intranet, email and social media channels.
  • As lead designer, develops creative and attractive graphic designs and print materials, including brochures, posters, flyers, newsletters, advertisements and JCPL publications.
  • Operates and maintains production equipment, including laser printers, digital paper cutters, and variable data printers.
  • Remains current with new technology, including computer and software applications, for the purpose of updating and increasing production.
  • Researches and negotiates supplies and prices with vendors.
  • Develops and monitors annual graphics budget.
  • Manages and supervises all Graphics team employees, including JCPL and contracted employees.
  • Serves on JCPL's Combined Management Team.
  • Assists with system-wide initiatives and contributes to department evaluations and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, field of study Graphic Design.
  • At least three years of work experience in Graphic Design & Production.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other graphic design software.
  • Familiarity with PC and MAC computers, desktop printers, digital cameras, large format printers, commercial cutters, folders, paper drills, laminators, copiers, fax machines and variable data printers.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
