Job Description

What You'd Do:

Work at the Central Library in the Community Relations Department to oversee and coordinate all aspects of resource development. Collaborate with library leadership to identify and prioritize funding opportunities and strategic partnerships connected to the mission of the Denver Public Library. Manage all library fundraising activities to meet annual resource development goals, including cultivation, solicitations and ongoing communication with foundation, government, corporate and in-kind donors. Engage with a wide variety of community and business entities to create partnerships, build resources, increase capacity, foster support and raise awareness. Grow relationships with current and new funders with a focus on deepening the connection to the work of the Denver Public Library. Support departmental and system-wide initiatives including events, community outreach, networking, and cross-divisional committee work. Supervise a Resource Development Officer and other staff that may further the work of the Community Relations Department.

You Have:

Skill in building and maintaining relationships. Skill in providing strong, dedicated and compassionate leadership. Ability to speak and write clearly and compellingly. Ability to think and act strategically to prioritize and modify goals and processes to meet the changing needs of the organization. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents while maintaining confidentiality and discretion. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to navigate and complete online foundation and corporate grant applications. Ability to select, train, motivate and supervise staff. Ability to stay current with changing development trends and technology. Ability to use extensive workplace technology including Microsoft Office, email, internet, databases, social media and other software. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.

A bachelor's degree in communication, marketing, nonprofit management, journalism or other related field.

Five years of broad experience in resource development for nonprofit, educational and/or government agencies, including a proven record of securing five and six-figure funds from foundations, corporations and government agencies.

Prior experience supervising, guiding and developing staff (strongly preferred, not required).

Experience with Raisers Edge and Google Apps (preferred, not required).

Success in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships.

Other Things You Should Know:

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, offers depend on qualifications and typically do not exceed the midpoint.  The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.


The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and will include some evening and weekend hours.
