Job Description

It is the mission of the Pikes Peak Library District to seek, engage, and transform lives through library services and resources that enrich individual lives and build community. This position operates in a diverse environment to help fulfill the library’s mission by providing general information and assistance to the public and participating in a wide range of support activities for the Adult/Teen Services department.

Under the Teen Services Coordinator’s direction, performs a variety of teen service and support activities for approximately 30% of work time; prepares and conducts booktalks for teens, participates in Teen Services meetings, plans and hosts teen programs, maintains and monitors teen programming kits, and facilitates the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meetings. Also assists the Teen Services Coordinator with planning, organizing, and implementing the Summer Reading Program. Duties include journal design and ordering and t-shirt bids and ordering

Essential Functions:

  1. Provides excellent customer service and maintains a courteous, positive image of the library when interacting with patrons and staff.
  2. Works on the public services desk providing reference services face to face, over the phone, and via email.
  3. Provides general assistance and information about the library’s services and procedures.
  4. Assists and instructs patrons through material and on-line searches, computer software applications, reference/in-depth research, community referrals, and outside sources/collections.
  5. Maintains confidentiality in all patron and staff interactions.
  6. Uses computers, printers, specialized software, fax and other business machines, as well as specialized equipment contained in the makerspaces.
  7. Assists patrons with questions about electronic devices.
  8. Provides support for specialized projects, services, programs, and activities related to divisional goals and needs with an emphasis in the teen department.
  9. Possesses a desire to learn new technologies and software.
  10. Has flexibility to change direction with new strategic goals.
  11. Troubleshoots basic computer and office equipment problems.
  12. Create and facilitate Teen Programming.
  13. Help with district wide Teen initiatives.
  14. Attend Teen meetings and trainings, provide input and support.
  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Hours:  40 hours per week per the following current work schedule:                              

Monday-Friday             9 am – 6 pm

Alternating Tuesday    12 pm – 9 pm or 9 am – 6 pm

Every 3rd Sunday, with previous Monday off (9 Sundays per year)

NOTE: Regular schedule may be subject to minor changes due to required meetings, training events, etc. Also, management may require modifications to a position’s schedule, days, times and locations at any time as the needs of the Library District change.
