Job Description
Oversees the development, implementation, evaluation and maintenance of a comprehensive external continuing education program for Georgia libraries using all available media and methods of delivery.
Works with libraries and the management team of GPLS to identify and evaluate needs for training programs, and develops a comprehensive long-range plan for continuing education.
Develops and delivers, or arranges for the delivery, of continuing education workshops for library directors, staff and trustees, as well as for GPLS staff. Workshops will cover a wide range of topics such as library technology trends, financial management, customer service, library laws and regulations, library board relations, personnel, and community partnerships.
Provides technical assistance and instruction to internal and external customers on the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of continuing education programs.
Establishes and implements procedures for the evaluation of continuing education sessions conducted by GPLS staff to ensure consistency, quality, and appropriateness to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
Develops and maintains a complete and up-to-date records database and reporting system for the continuing education program.
Collaborates with education and training providers to develop appropriate courses, methods of delivery, materials and related items for members of the library community. This may include developing contract documents.
Directs agency use of outcome based evaluation (OBE), including planning and training for agency staff and sub-awardees, creating support materials and consulting on OBE models and methodologies. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and other literature and attending related seminars and conferences.
Submits recommendations on policies and services to GPLS administration and implements policy decisions
Additional Info & Requirements
Experience with development of Web-based instruction. Two (2) yeas of experience working in a collaborative or cooperative program/project. Experience in leading others to achieve program outcomes. Experience in writing and managing grants.
