Job Description

The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries invites applications from innovative and enthusiastic service-oriented professionals for the position of Temporary Government Information Librarian. The successful candidate will support the public service mission of the Government Information library unit within the University Libraries’ Social Sciences department. The librarian in this role provides instruction, reference assistance, outreach, and research consultation services for students, faculty, staff, and public patrons within the University community and beyond. The University of Colorado-Boulder is the Regional Federal Depository Library for the state of Colorado. The successful candidate will understand the rules and responsibilities of a federal depository library, be passionate and eager to learn about government resources and services in a timely manner, and work collaboratively with a team of Government Information librarians and specialists to support student success and enhance the reputation of the unit. 

Appointment and Salary:  

The successful candidate will be appointed as a full-time lecturer for 12 months. The annual salary is $47,500. Benefits include university group health care plans.

  • Master’s degree from an  ALA-accredited library school completed or in progress
  • Recent coursework or experience in government information
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, strong interpersonal skills, and effective oral or written communication skills 

Desirable Qualifications

Evidence of any of the following will enhance a candidacy:

  • Professional experience in an academic or research library
  • Demonstrated experience providing reference or instruction in an academic or research library
  • Creative ideas about the promotion or outreach of government information services, tools, or resources
  • Commitment to teaching and the library’s instructional role in undergraduate and graduate education
