Job Description:


The Assistant Librarian- Digital Initiatives helps build, develop, and effectively maintain distance library services for students, and faculty. These services include website content contributions; creation of learning objects such as videos and interactive tutorials; providing instruction to classes; answering reference questions (via email, phone, or zoom); conducting research consultations as needed; and the completion of other tasks as needed or assigned. This position reports to the Lead Librarian.


Job Duties/Performance Objectives:


• Contributes to library website content creation through front end web development. 
• Creates learning objects such as videos and interactive tutorials as needed. 
• Provides reference assistance and instruction by technological means to help patrons navigate the online library and develop research strategies. 
• Conducts seminars, classes, online guides, and workshops tailored for students and scholars in a variety of fields. 
• Helps to facilitate Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery services (processing borrowed items, communicating with patrons, and keeping accurate records of each transaction) as needed. 
• Contributes to the work and management of project(s) within own function/discipline with a moderate level of guidance and direction. 
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education Requirements:


• Master's degree from an ALA (American Library Association) accredited graduate program 
• Experience using HTML5, Bootstrap, CSS3, and Javascript 
• Experience using tutorial software such as Camtasia or Captivate 
• Experience employing current educational theories, pedagogies, and applications in higher education (preferred) 
• Familiarity with OCLC processing and interlibrary loan functions in academic libraries (preferred)
