Job Description

What you'd do:

Work at the Ross-University Hills Library to create lifelong library customers by implementing services designed for customers of all ages and backgrounds, particularly those seeking technology instruction and use. Plan and teach a variety of technology programs and other activities for older adults. Provide one-on-one and group training to customers and staff on the use of various types of technology, ranging from using a mouse to advanced Microsoft Office and Google Apps to conducting a job search. Act as a main point of contact for staff and customers seeking assistance with computers and technology. Work with other organizations to promote the library's technology programs. Visit schools, senior living facilities, and other locations to promote Denver Public Library and Ross-University Hills programs and services. Provide activities and storytimes for young children. Create displays and passive activities for customers of all ages.

Knowledge of teaching and training principles. Skill in presenting information to a diverse range of ages and cultures, individually and in groups. Skill in training a wide variety of learners. Skill in working with children and teens. Skill in communicating, collaborating and establishing effective working relationships with employees, volunteers, organizations and the public. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to thrive in a working environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to creatively solve problems, and negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to demonstrate innovation, flexibility, patience, and empathy. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with diverse customers, coworkers and community. Ability to stay organized in a small, shared work area. Ability to manage and prioritize myriad unrelated responsibilities. Ability to embrace the constant challenge of learning to use new tools, software and technologies. Ability to use extensive workplace and other technology including email, internet, databases, social media and other software. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.

A Bachelor's degree.

Two years of experience teaching or presenting information.
