Job Description

Colorado School of Mines invites applications for a temporary 8-month position of Special Collections Librarian Resident.  Reporting to the Special Collections Manager, this position is responsible for supporting the Library's special collections through projects that improve discovery, access and outreach; support user research, and enrich digital content, with focus on the Russell L. and Lyn Wood Mining History Archive.  As part of the Special Collections team, this position collaborates on projects, develops digital content, documents and evaluates collections, and makes recommendations on policies and practices.  The position assists users with queries, staffing the Russell L. and Lyn Wood Mining History Archive Reading Room, creating web-based collection guides and discovery tools, outreach activities, and other projects as assigned.  Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Requirements include:

  • Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA accredited school by date of employment
  • Educational emphasis on archives management or experience with archives and special collections
  • Excellent communication skills and a public service orientation
  • Familiarity with library technologies
