Job Description

These full-time SCBOCES contract positions serve the staff and offenders at Colorado Department of Corrections facility libraries. There is one vacancy at each security level: minimum, medium and high security management. The individuals selected to fill these positions will have an outstanding opportunity to make a difference as a librarian and impact patrons' lives, as the libraries have an integral role in a department-wide focus on education, libraries, and reentry skills. Under the direction of a Regional Librarian, supervise the daily operation of a busy library providing public/school-type (not law) library service to adult male offenders and DOC personnel. The duties include: provide reference and information services; provide readers' advisory services; hire, train, and supervise offender library assistants; perform library computer functions using the automated library management system (date entry, circulation, catalog maintenance, and printed reports); monitor the behavior of offender patrons.

Special consideration will be given to applicants with the following qualifications: strong service orientation; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; flexibility; and strong computer skills in a Windows environment and with MS Office Professional.

HR Info

21+ years of age. Must successfully complete the Department of Corrections Basic Training Academy. Application process includes a urinalysis and background investigation for clearance to work in a correctional facility. No correctional knowledge or experience is required.
