Job Description

Adult Audience Strategist 

I am responsible for the comprehensive planning, development, and implementation of the adult audience-based service strategies and content delivery including program and outreach development, physical and digital collection assessment, recommendations and merchandising.  I deliver Library services for adults, using research of community preferences, emerging trends, and behaviors in using Library services. 

I collaborate with Managers and Strategists to analyze customer feedback and community needs.  I am a Library-wide leader, working proactively and collaboratively to support the strategic goals and missions of the Library. I improve processes and ensure audience-focused services are meeting community needs and preferences and are aligned with the Library’s strategic plan. 

I enhance the Library’s relationships with key community stakeholders. I participate on various community boards and committees and listen to the groups’ expressed values, needs, and goals.  I contribute to the creation of partnerships and provide content expertise, design, and delivery concepts.  I create and support proposed initiatives related to the audience.  I embrace and promote a committed customer experience group who delivers innovative programs and services. 

The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable about emerging trends in libraries and passionate about providing responsive, high quality customer service. S/he must be a thought leader who excels in interpersonal communication and collaborative leadership as well as day-to-day operational and organizational skills. 

This position requires a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited university; a minimum of 3 years progressive supervision/management experience in a library, including supervision of professional staff.

Additional Info & Requirements

Other non-english language skills are considered a helpful.

  • Three years of related experience working with adults required.
  • Three years of related experience in the field of adult learning, programming, community partnerships and engagement, and broad knowledge of physical and digital content for adults required.
  • Three years of professional leadership and/or supervisory experience required.
