Abt Associates seeks bright, talented, and intellectually curious students to add to our talent pipeline. As a paid intern in the Reputational Capital Department you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on industry experience while being exposed to challenging projects and learning from some of the top experts in the field. Interns will be exposed to a depth and breadth of expertise and knowledge through events and programs throughout the summer. Our summer internship program consists of a robust and structured curriculum that encompasses professional development opportunities, networking events, and a mentorship program. This position is located in Boulder, Colorado.
The Summer Internship Program at Abt Associates is 10 weeks, beginning June 5 through August 11, 2017. Interns must be able to work full time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the program. Abt Associates does not provide housing.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Abt Research Librarian, the Intern will liaise with business leaders and staff in the Department of Health and Environment to integrate print and digital materials from the Abt Environmental Research collection into the online Abt Research Library catalog, as well as other internal knowledge platforms. The intern will work closely with the Research Library & Knowledge Management team to help properly store & maintain materials.
- Review, catalog and organize the Boulder office print resource collection
- Identify and upload key internally produced research reports, publications and other thought leadership (digital or print) materials
- Provide instruction to staff on how to access and find resources from the Abt Research Library and other knowledge tools
Department / Division Qualifications
- Is currently enrolled in a graduate level degree program in Library Science / Information Studies
- Knowledge of cataloging principles and processes, including Library of Congress classifications
- Familiarity with library online cataloging and management tools
- Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
Program Minimum Qualifications
- Has completed at least two years of college coursework
- Maintains a GPA of at least 3.2
- Has excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Is available to work full-time throughout the 10 week internship
- Is eligible to work in the United States
