Job Description

The City of Springfield, Illinois, is seeking applicants for Director of Lincoln Library.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate would be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the library’s services, resources, programs and staff. Other responsibilities would include, but not be limited to: formulating goals and objectives for strategic short and long term planning, analyzing and administering the library’s budget and revenue, maintaining an active presence in the city of Springfield through associated community groups and other government relations as well as training and developing employees toward an environment of continuous quality improvement.

Requirements:
This position requires evening and weekend work hours as well as residency within Springfield corporate city limits. The qualified selected candidate would have 1 year to relocate and provide proof of residence in the city limits of Springfield. Qualified candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science as well as five (5) years supervisory experience.

Compensation:
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include ten (10) vacation days, twelve (12) sick days, two (2) personal days and ten (10) paid holidays each year. The City offers multiple health, dental and vision plans as well as optional deferred compensation plans, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (a defined benefit pension plan).
