Job Description
The individual hired will be a member of a six-person team providing public/school-type (not law) library service in an environment where staff and over 90% of the adult male offenders use the facility library. The individual selected to fill this position will have an outstanding opportunity to make a difference as a librarian and impact patrons' lives, as the libraries have an integral role in a department-wide focus on education, libraries, and reentry. Job duties include: provide reference and information services; provide readers' advisory services; hire, train, and supervise offender library assistants; perform library computer functions using the automated library management system (data entry, circulation, catalog maintenance, and printed reports); monitor the behavior of offender patrons.Additional Info & Requirements
Special consideration will be given to applicants with the following qualifications: strong service orientation; excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; flexibility; and strong computer skills in a Windows environment and with MS Office Professional.HR Info
21+ years of age. Must successfully complete the Department of Corrections Basic Training Academy. Application process includes a urinalysis and background investigation for clearance to work in a correctional facility. No correctional knowledge or experience is required.
