Job Description

Do you have a passion for developing fun and engaging programming for kids and teens? Do you enjoy making connections and promoting the value of the library? Are you creative, organized and energetic? If you answered yes, we have an opening in our Program Services Department that might be for you!

Based in our District Headquarters building, this Senior Public Services Librarian position focuses on early learners, children, teens, and their parents/caregivers. The librarian will partner with FVRL staff and outside organizations to deliver programs and services in our branches and community locations.

Additional Info & Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related (library/programming) work experience, including customer service experience.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of supervisory experience or lead worker experience.
  • A passion for working with and for youth! This position serves as an advocate for library services for youth in the community and within the library system. This position will support District relationships with educators, community stakeholders, other libraries, and organizations serving youth and families.
  • Knowledge of youth developmental stages, interests, community needs, and literature in order to create, promote, and present programming based on developmental needs and with the inclusion of early literacy practices.
  • Flexibility and adaptability:
    • Work in a team-based environment.
    • Provide expertise to other District departments and branches.
    • Provide backup for programs and other services at our branch libraries.
