Job Summary:

Responsible for duties related to Interlibrary/Intercampus Loan, Prospector, Circulation and Reserves. The duties require competence in various computer systems, including Innovate Interface, ILLiad, OCLC , Rapid, Prospector and Ares. Assures all aspects of the Copyright Law and Interlibrary Loan Code, and reciprocal agreements between libraries are being met by the Institution. Provides quality customer service via a service desk, telephone and email to multi-age, multicultural clientele located world-wide. Ensures a 24 hour turnaround time for requested research materials. Assists with the supervision of 20 student assistants.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1.Evaluates and processes lending, borrowing and docdel requests: conducts bibliographic verification and database searching, photocopies, scans and downloads articles, orders materials not owned by Regis; processes materials for mailing; sends materials to patrons. 58%

2.Trains, assigns work, and supervises student workers in operation of circulation, inter-library/inter-campus loans, Rapid, and Prospector. 15%

3.Shelves and shifts books, newspapers and periodicals, files microfiche and maintains orderliness of library.2%

4.Screens and answers or refers inquiries, both in person and over the telephone, as appropriate; assists patrons with reference questions when reference librarian is busy or is not on duty. 10%

5.Instructs patrons on locating books, periodicals, and government documents on the on-line automated catalog. 5%

6.Opens and closes library, preparing computers, Santo Collection and cash drawer accordingly. 5%

7.Insures patron safety by identifying emergency situations and notifying authorities, notifying patrons and/or clearing the building as necessary when no reference librarian is on duty. 2%

8.Monitors alarm systems for library collections and building security and communicates with security personnel when necessary. 1%

Minimum Qualifications:

1.Previous experience working with the public.

2.High school diploma.

3.Evidence of excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

4.Ability to maintain poise while effectively managing a multi-task operation.

5.Demonstrated ability to supervise student workers.

6.Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse clientele.

7.Demonstrated computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years experience with a circulation and inter-library loan module of an automated library system.
