Reports to: Director of Digital Services & Library Materials Services
Position: 40 hours Full-time, exempt position
Salary: $80-97,000-Commensurate with experience
Role: Manages the Information Technology department and ALD Answers call center.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
25% - STAFF SUPERVISION Hires, trains, and supervises Information Technology and ALD Answers staff, including setting performance objectives, organizing resources and making implementation decisions, coaching and providing feedback, managing conflict and appraising performance in order to optimize the performance of department staff. Ensures effective communication, a good balance of alignment and autonomy, and cultural awareness in department staff. Ensures brand compliance and excellent internal and external customer service in interactions with patrons and staff.
25% - PROJECT MANAGEMENT Sets goals for district project(s), establishes implementation team (s) and timelines for completion, and collaborates and communicates effectively with department managers to achieve desired outputs and outcomes for the organization.
20% - INFRASTRUCTURE PLANNING, DESIGN & ADMINISTRATION - Provides leadership and management expertise to the Information Technology and ALD Answers teams, ensuring the reliability and integrity of the organization's network and infrastructure. Manages the day-to-day operations, including incident management, system maintenance, performance monitoring and improvement, technical upgrades, and application enhancement requests; and leads the planning process for new applications and technologies. Possess a thorough working knowledge of IT operations and process improvement methodologies.
20% - PURCHASING & BUDGET PLANNING - Evaluates vendor products in hardware, software, and telecommunications equipment and recommends purchases in order to keep technologies current. Develops and manages the overall IT Infrastructure budget of $1.5 Million and 30+ vendors. Administers the E-Rate process to ensure maximum reimbursement and compliance.
10% - CHANGE MANAGEMENT'Ensures that all system changes are documented, communicated, and rolled out to staff and patrons responsibly and with a focus on how individuals, teams, and the organization are affected.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, required.
Five to ten years of experience in a technical environment, required.
Minimum 3 years' supervision experience, required.
3-5 years of proven experience as IT manager or supervisor with hands-on experience managing systems and networks.
Management aptitude, including management education and experience; leadership skills; responsibility for outcomes; personal productivity; practical thinking; adaptability; coaching; interpersonal skills; and business ethics, required.
Ability to travel between facilities and work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.
Ability to successfully work with varying demographics, required.
Skilled in Windows servers or Office 365, required.
Advanced technology skills which include knowledge in telecommunications operation, firewalls (ACL and Zone based), routers and switches, required.
The ability to motivate and influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of this position.
Demonstrated ability to communicate, supervise and work effectively with intradepartmental teams.
Ability to manage effective vendor relationships.
Ability to develop, manage and administer budget.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patrons and employees.

The Community
Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
