Job Description

The South Branch Library in Breckenridge is currently seeking a Library Aide to work 40 hours per week. Must be able to work some nights and weekends. Duties will include working circulation desk, working with children, collection maintenance, book repair, answering patron reference and computer questions (internet, online databases), answering phone calls, shelving books, and other library duties as assigned.

Applicant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional computer skills are required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and internet as well as comfortable learning library software. Previous experience working with children is imperative. Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with the public effectively. A minimum of a high school education, but college degree preferred. Must be dependable, flexible, detail oriented, meticulous, a self-starter and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Should be creative and ready to help plan, organize and present programs. Bilingual a plus. This is a high-energy and physically demanding job in a multi-level building. It requires using stairs, bending, lifting 10 – 20 pounds, moving chairs, tables and boxes of books, balancing, squatting, standing over 50% of the time, stretching and fine motor skills.
