Job Description

Fort Vancouver Regional Library District (FVRL) is seeking librarians with a passion for working with teens for a full-time (40 hours per week) Senior Public Services Librarian opening for Teen Services at our Vancouver Community Library.

Vancouver Community Library loves our teens and is proud to have a dedicated room, Teen Central, where they can browse books or materials, explore new technologies, start on homework projects and socialize in a comfortable and supervised environment. Teen Central provides teens with access to the branch’s YA fiction books, YA magazines and YA graphic novel collections; computers with unlimited internet access; multiple gaming consoles and games; and a wide variety of programs.

We are seeking an enthusiastic librarian to focus on library services, resources, outreach and programming for ages 12-18 at Vancouver Community Library. This includes partnering with FVRL staff at other branches and at district headquarters, and with community organizations to deliver library programs and services. This position will also oversee approximately four or five Senior Library Assistants who provide support throughout the branch (not limited to teen services).

Additional Info & Requirements

To be considered, applicants must have these qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program or the ability to obtain a Washington State Librarian certification upon hire
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of related work experience, including customer service
  • One (1) to three (3) years of supervisory experience or lead worker experience

The ideal candidate would also have previous experience doing library programming or working with teens. Please see the position description below for a more detailed list of job duties and requirements.
