Job Description

If you can deliver great library services, empower creative and energetic librarians, engage community members, juggle multiple tasks, enjoy dotting every “i” and crossing every “t”, and view libraries as the social and cultural hub of the community, then we are looking for you.  We are seeking a Library Manager for the Cedaredge Library to oversee daily operations, directing all library operations and assisting patrons by providing reference and reader’s advisory services and community referrals.  Besides supervising library staff, this individual will work closely with the Assistant District Director, Library District administrative staff, and fellow Library Managers.

Additional Info & Requirements

Five years or more of library experience.  Strong supervisory skills.  Successful experience with community partnerships.  Proficiency in all types of technology.

The Community

Canyons, rivers, and mountains paint the setting of rural Delta County, inspiring its residents to take regular excursions into the outdoors for hiking, camping, rafting, fishing, hunting, skiing, snowshoeing, and more.  Agriculture and mining continue to be prominent industries for the area.  With a population of approximately 30,000, the county has six incorporated communities—Cedaredge, Crawford, Delta, Hotchkiss, Orchard City, and Paonia—that offer diversity of lifestyles and interests.

Delta County Libraries supports five libraries in Cedaredge, Crawford, Delta, Hotchkiss, and Paonia.  The Library District maintains a varied collection of materials in print, audio, and electronic formats, as well as a wide range of technology for on-site and home use.  Each library offers an annual schedule of dynamic programming for all ages including a Summer Reading Program, weekly storytimes, book clubs, technology help, and much more.  The Library District also provides adult education through ELA classes, high school equivalency classes and testing, and distance learning opportunities.

Cedaredge is known as the “Gateway to the Grand Mesa” and is located on the south slope of the world’s largest flat top mountain, which offers easy access to many year-round, outdoor recreational activities.  Located in the Surface Creek area, there are orchards, vineyards, and livestock ranches surrounding the town of approximately 2,160.  The Cedaredge Library is centrally located in town and recognized as a community gathering place.  In 2016, the library had 43,304 visitors, averaging 167 visitors daily, and it offered 123 youth and family programs with 3,361 youth and family members attending those programs.
