Job Description

We're looking for an energetic person with a passion for service to the community.  If you enjoy sharing your passion with all levels of an organization through active participation, collaboration and excellent communication skills, this may the job you've been dreaming of.   

The person joining our team will coordinate a comprehensive volunteer program for all locations of JCPL.  They will work closely and collaboratively with Library staff, Library Foundation and the Speaker's Bureau, providing support and participating in community activities.  The person in this position also supports fundraising efforts by writing grant proposals and fostering community partnerships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provide presentations for community agencies as requested.
  • Write articles for community publications to create interest in the JCPL Volunteer program.
  • Support and coordinate the efforts of the Library's Speakers Bureau.
  • Develop community partnerships to support volunteer and fund raising efforts.
  • Support fund raising efforts by writing grant proposals as needed.
  • Plan and coordinate volunteer events.
  • Recruit and onboard new volunteers.
  • Communicate information to active and potential JCPL volunteers regarding volunteer opportunities, training policies and procedures.  
  • Effectively match volunteers with jobs that considers Library needs, volunteer skill sets, availability and geographic locations.
  • Evaluate volunteer performance for recognition and appreciation.
  • Serve as liaison between volunteers, Library staff and Library Foundation.
  • Review the Volunteer Handbook and revise as needed.
  • Maintain volunteer files, records and database.
  • Track overall program statistics to report periodically  to management and the Library Board.

Additional Info & Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of demonstrated experience in developing structure, systems and procedures to support volunteers required.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience successfully writing grants required.
  • Excellent communication, writing, editing skills required.
  • Ability to prepare and present information to volunteers, Library leadership, Library Board and community partners is required.
