Library Technician II/G3C3XX

FLSA Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Starting Salary: $1415.00/month


This position supports the acquisition and maintenance of the library’s print serials and standing orders, and will work on projects related to the maintenance of the library’s collections. In addition, this position will help with ingesting materials into the digital repository.  Ingest materials into the Kraemer Family Library digital repository using established procedures and archival standards.

Responsibilities include tracking serials and standing orders using the library’s integrated library system. This position also identifies and tracks titles received, contacts appropriate vendors to resolve issues, and communicates problems to library staff as needed. While a professional Librarian provides oversight, the library technician uses standard processes and procedures in the checking in, maintenance and withdrawal of serials, and the payment of serial invoices.

Claim with vendor or publisher any issues that are lost and missing and prepare issues for binding. Verify that all materials sent to the bindery are returned and bound correctly. Track status of all materials sent to the bindery and claimed from the publisher/vendor.

Remain current on changes in various computer systems by paying attention to system revisions and upgrades and learning new system features. Increase knowledge of system capabilities by participating in available training, understanding and using system documentation, and demonstrating system knowledge through use on a daily basis.

Assist with the development of goals and objectives for the Technical Services Department. Compile monthly collection and work statistics. Collaborate as a member of the library team in activities related to goal setting, planning, space needs, staff searches, and advisory committees. Work on library projects as assigned.

Additional Info & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials. Two years of coursework from an accredited college of university, including 12 semester hours of library science course work, may substitute for two years of the general library experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Library Collection experience; Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Experience in working with students, staff, or volunteers.
