Job Summary:

Regis University Library seeks a dynamic, team-oriented librarian to participate in the provision of reference and information services, with a special emphasis on research help desk service. Responsibilities include reference and research assistance, development of online instructional and informational resources, and user instruction in computer-equipped and traditional classrooms.

This is a temporary, 9-month position with a Monday through Thursday schedule. Some evening hours will be required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide reference and informational services to library users in Dayton Memorial Library and beyond through appropriate technologies, effectively utilizing print and electronic resources. This duty will involve some work assignments at night and on weekends. (50%)

2. Participate in the library instruction program at Northwest campus, extended campuses, and online, including the development of instructional materials, and presentations. (25%)

3. Assist with occasional library tours or brief instruction sessions. (5%)

4. Create, develop and enhance access to library resources and services in a web-based learning environment. (5%)

5. Assist with maintaining logs of library statistics, as necessary (5%).

6. Update general library handouts and libguides. (5%).

7. Participate in the development and execution of Research & Instruction Department policies and procedures. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Possession of a Master’s Degree in Library Science, preferably from an ALA -accredited library/information science program. Exemption may be granted for an otherwise qualified candidate who is close to completing this degree.

2. Reliable knowledge of print and electronic reference sources commonly found in academic libraries.

3. Strong knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system.

4. Excellent communication skills, marked by both active listening and clear verbal responses (oral and written).

5. Strong computer skills as they relate to reference librarianship, including the ability to search an online catalog or library database effectively; the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Calendar, Word, Internet Explorer.

6. Ability to work effectively with a diverse clientele and staff.

7. Ability to work independently during hours when there may not be another professional librarian on duty.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an academic library setting.
