Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide excellent customer service in the technical services department
- Perform original cataloging of various formats such as serials, print, non-print, and electronic materials
- Perform copy cataloging of various formats
- Assist with local database management including local authority files and holdings deletions
- Assist with acquisitions
- Some processing including RFID tags
- Assist with cataloging statistics
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Info & Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- MLS degree from an ALA accredited institution required
- Previous experience performing original cataloging in various formats needed
- Previous experience performing copy cataloging needed
- Must have excellent working knowledge of cataloging standards and principles such as RDA, MODS, DC, AACR2, SkyRiver and OCLC
- Must have excellent computer skills and proofreading skills
- The ability to multi-task, problem solve, and prioritize is needed
- Must be able to quickly and favorably respond to new or changed responsibilities and/or situations
- High-level reasoning, independent judgment, and efficiency is essential
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, and analytical skills
- Must be able to hear, read, write, speak, and understand English effectively
- Must have sufficient manual dexterity and visual acuity to meet job requirements
- Must be able to lift full book crates and move full book carts that could weigh up to 75 pounds
- Regular and predictable physical attendance is required

The MidPointe Library System located between Dayton and Cincinnati Ohio, and serves a population of 180,783 in eastern Butler County through four locations in Middletown, Monroe, Trenton, and Middletown. We have an annual circulation of 2,208,200 which includes print, non-print, and electronic, mobile hotspots, and more. Our services include homebound delivery, talking books, outreach to schools, day cares and senior facilities, passport services, proctoring, meeting rooms, programs, story times, events, and a highly successful summer reading program.
