Job Description

What you'd do:

Work at the Montbello Branch Library to create positive experiences for library customers by providing programming and outreach, designed to educate and promote library usage, to a wide variety of audiences. Provide early literacy outreach to children between the ages of 0-5 years and give storytimes in both English and Spanish. Implement library services and resources including intergenerational and bilingual programming to a diverse customer base. Assist customers in circulation, reference and readers/media advisory. Work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers. Oversee library operations as assigned.

You have:

Knowledge of programming.  Skill in presenting information to a diverse range of ages and cultures, individually and in groups. Skill in choosing appropriate materials for programming and outreach. Ability to facilitate group conversations. Ability to exercise initiative, judgement and decision making in problem solving and meeting organizational objectives. Ability to relate to the needs of customers of all ages and skill levels, including those without English language proficiency.  Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and community.  Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multitask and prioritize.  Ability to use extensive workplace and other technology including email, internet databases, eMedia, social media and other software. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.

A Bachelor's degree in a related field of study.

Two years of experience teaching or presenting information to children and their caregivers.

Spanish language fluency.

Excellent customer service skills.

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, starting salary is typically made at or near the range minimum.  The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.

The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and may include evening and weekend hours.
