Job Description

Arapahoe Libraries offers hundreds of programs and events each month. Catch up with your favorite author at a book signing, or join us for a food and dance demonstration, music concert or book club. Our program presenters are trained in theater and improvisation, and we are committed to providing you with a VIP experience each and every time.

Location: District-wide resource
Reports to: Supervisor of Events & Grass Roots Marketing
Position: 20 hours, part-time; non-exempt- Flexibility with evening and weekends required.
Pay Rate: $15.24 – $19.07 per hour

Role: Prepares, delivers, evaluates and promotes branch specific programs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

40% PROGRAMMING DELIVERY AND EVALUATION

  • Delivers programs, greets patrons and introduces program performers under the "Four Pillars" model
  • Hosts and presents programs, and engages the audience in order to provide a consistent, high-quality "wow" experience that is fun, appealing and stimulating
  • Generates interests in circulation materials, services, technology and promotions by strategically and seamlessly integrating these areas during, before and after programs
  • Manages the room, including: safety of patrons, experience of patrons, room set ups, equipment scheduling, tear downs and clean up
  • Administers patron surveys/evaluations
  • Tracks and records attendance

25% PROGRAMMING SUPPORT

  • Provides input and helps to research the topic, materials and content to match patron demographics at each branch
  • Attends various library staff meetings to provide information on upcoming programs and events
  • Purchases supplies or materials for specific library and offsite programs
  • Provides suggestions of topics, times and target audiences for programs
  • Provides support in the entering of information to the content calendar, reserving equipment and other support functions as needed

30% COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT

  • Promotes and distributes program, circulation, service, technology and promotion materials at the branches and through outside events such as farmers' markets, fairs and expos
  • Delivers marketing materials to local community organizations and businesses through strategic grassroots marketing
  • Promotes brand resources and creates social media awareness
  • Assists with Show and Tech series

5% DISTRICT SUPPORT

  • Assists Library Specialists in floor coverage during trainings and as needed
  • Assists with district-wide projects as requested, including patron surveys

Qualifications:

Six months to two years of relevant experience in planning and delivering events, required.

Experience in the performing arts, preferred.

Bachelor's degree, preferred.

Knowledge of informational databases, preferred.

Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.

Intermediate technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook, required.

Ability to comfortably and effectively demonstrate and speak about the Arapahoe Libraries' beta technology initiative and materials, required.

Ability to be mobile 100% of the time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds and ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, regularly and up to 50 pounds assisted occasionally required.

Ability to effectively present information in a public setting to diverse audiences, required.

Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse group, required.

Ability to organize work, determine priorities, handle multiple tasks, complete projects on time, and problem solve, required.

Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.

Ability to work in multiple facilities and have a flexible work schedule. Although this position is housed in the administration building, the bulk of time for this position will be spent in public library service areas throughout the district.

Ability to focus on the patron, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun.

Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.
