Job Description

Arapahoe Libraries is looking for a Supervisor to join our progressive library system.  We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who has at least two years of successful supervisory experience, a bachelor's degree, and proven leadership experience.  Are you passionate about the library? Location: Support Services, 12855 E. Adam Aircraft Circle, Englewood, CO 80112.

Reports to: Manager of LMS

Supervises: 13

Position: 40 hours, Full-time; exempt

Role: Supervises daily operations and employees in LMS department.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

50% -  LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION Supervises department employees by training, coaching and providing feedback, managing conflict and appraising performance in order to optimize their performance. Supports the LMS Manager by assisting in communicating goals and priorities to department employees to define culture, increase communication and ensure alignment of the department with the strategic goals of Arapahoe Libraries.   Acts as back up for LMS Manager in his/her absence.  

40% -  OPERATIONS - Supervises daily operations of department employees by collecting, analyzing, and communicating information to employees; problem solving; organizing resources; and making decisions and prioritizing work in order to ensure the proper functioning of the department.  Works closely with LMS Manager to implement and maintain processes ensuring efficiency and quality in the work performed by the department.   

10% -  TROUBLESHOOTING  Works closely with Digital Services and Library Operations to resolve complaints and other issues brought forward by the public and/or employees by researching problems, seeking alternative solutions, and making decisions to satisfy patrons and employee concerns. Communicates with vendors to report and resolve outsourcing issues.

 

 

Qualifications:

Two plus years of library experience, required.

Bachelor's degree, required.

Two years successful supervisory experience, required. 

Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, including responsibility for outcomes, personal productivity, practical thinking, adaptability, coaching, interpersonal skills and business ethics, required.

Ability to travel to other work/library locations, as needed, required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, required.

Intermediate technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel and Outlook, required.

Excellent communication skills, required.

Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a team environment, required.

Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.

Knowledge of informational databases, preferred.

Aptitude for detail.

Ability to problem solve and to handle and negotiate stressful situations in a positive manner.

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun.

Ability to comfortably present information in a clear and engaging manner in dealing with customers and colleagues one-on-one or in groups, in both formal and informal settings.
