We are seeking an Accounting Supervisor with at least five years' of progressive experience in finance/accounting.  Please read the complete job description, and if these are experiences and qualifications you have, then we want to hear from you.

Reports to:  Director

Supervises:  up to 5

Position:  Exempt

Pay:  $60,800 - $91,220

Role:  Responsible for developing policies and procedures, managing audit and month end processes, mentoring, training and supervising daily activities of department employees.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

20% - AUDIT - Serves as the project manager for the audit process by scheduling the audit, producing project plan with work paper assignments, assigning deadlines, and reviewing staff work papers. 

20% - MONTH END CLOSING - Develops the project plan for month end processes, assigns tasks and deadlines, and reviews staff work papers.

20% - SUPERVISION Leads, develops and supervises employees by setting objectives, organizing accounting tasks, assigning tasks, tracking and checking work, troubleshooting problems, coaching and providing feedback, and administering rewards.

10% - TECHNICAL GUIDANCE - Provides technical assistance to staff, provides specialized accounting advice and explanation to department employees and other departments, assists other departments with accounting or coding questions, researches accounting standards and best practices to support and explain financial accounting to other accountants and other departments.

10% - CAFR - Assists with preparing the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by compiling financial information in the required format and completing all required sections of the document. 

10% - INTERNAL CONTROLS - Coordinates implementation of accounting control procedures through direction of management, assists in developing new procedures to encourage operational efficiencies.

5% - BUDGET Facilitates the entry of departmental budgets into the accounting system, develop process and train end users in budget creation.

5% - FINANCE Generate and distribute financial reports to managers & directors.

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Five years of similar or related progressive experience in finance/accounting, required. 

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field, required.

Government accounting experience, knowledge of GASB standards and governmental accounting policies and procedures, required.

Certified Public Accountant license, preferred.

At least 2 years of previous supervisory experience, required.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), required.

Nonprofit accounting experience and knowledge of FASB standards as it relates to nonprofit organizations, required.

Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable and general ledger, required.

Experience with fund-based accounting software, required.

Ability to ensure ethical standards are practiced in regards to financial management within Arapahoe Libraries. 

Intermediate skill in Microsoft Office and advanced skill in Excel, required. 

Ability to organize work, determine priorities, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and use tact and discretion in the conveyance of confidential information.

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patrons and employees. 

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun. Ability to successfully work with varying demographics, required.
