We are looking for an experienced and energetic supervisor for the Koelbel library!

Reports to: Library Manager

Supervises: Multiple

Hours: 40 hours Full-time, exempt

Pay: $52,900-$66,140

Role: Responsible for daily patron service operations at the Library.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

45% - OPERATIONS - Responsible for daily operations of the Library by allocating resources, planning and prioritizing work, gathering and communicating information to employees, and making decisions to ensure the proper functioning of the library. Responsible for monthly scheduling of library employees to ensure appropriate staff coverage to provide each patron an outstanding library experience.

40% - LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION - Supervises library employees by hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, and reviewing performance to optimize the performance of library employees. Approximately 10% of time is spent working side by side with employees to provide direct performance feedback.

15% - CUSTOMER RELATIONS - Builds and maintains relationships with community members.  Resolves concerns from the public and employees by researching problems, seeking alternative solutions, and making decisions to satisfy patrons and employees.

Qualifications:

Two to five years of experience in a library setting or related industry, required.

Two years successful supervisory experience, required.

Bachelor's degree, required.

Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, including responsibility for outcomes, personal productivity, practical thinking, adaptability, coaching, interpersonal skills and business ethics, required.

Ability to travel between facilities, required. 

Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.

Intermediate technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook, required.

Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred. 

Knowledge of informational databases, required. 

Ability to be mobile 50% of the time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds and ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, and up to 50 pounds assisted occasionally, preferred.

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive enjoy learning and have fun. 

Experience with training and mentoring adults, required.

Excellent communication skills, required.

Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a team environment, required.

Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.
