Job Description
- Routinely provides direct customer service.
- Uses high-level customer service skills to determine patron needs and create a positive, inviting interaction.
- Provides information, referrals, and assistance to patrons by phone.
- Addresses and resolves complaints from patrons or forwards complaints to appropriate staff as necessary.
- Performs simple to moderately complex research activities.
- Locates materials through the use of electronic databases in JCPL, other library systems, and other sources.
- Refer patrons to community resources and other appropriate resources for further information as necessary; and advise about online searching.
- As needed, specializes in service to specific market segments (Children, Teens, Adults, Seniors, bilingual speaking, reading and writing skills in English/Spanish).
- Frequently uses new technology in daily duties and to support patrons with new software, hardware, and mobile devices.
- Position must comply with laws governing patron privacy and confidentiality under CRS24-90-119, and the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association, as well as Americans with Disabilities Act.
Additional Info & Requirements
- Must be available to work days, some evenings, every other weekend, and holidays as required.
- Offer of employment contingent on criminal history check, education verification and English/Spanish language testing.

Patron Experience Associates at JCPL provide frontline library service to the diverse and growing residents of Jefferson County and beyond. Three part time positions are available. One each with our Call Center, Lakewood Library and Edgewater Library. You will provide quality library resources, exemplary customer service and assistance in person and via phone contact. Helping people find what and who they need is the name of the game! It is a fast-paced environment where the needs of the customer come first.
If you are a dynamic, customer-focused, forward-thinking individual with an aptitude for technology and who enjoys serving the public, then this may be the job for you! This position requires bilingual speaking, reading and writing skills in English/Spanish to help us serve our community needs.
