Job Description
Special Collections Librarian Position Summary:
This position is a member of the De Paul Library staff and is accountable to the Library Director. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and administration of Special Collections. The position also contributes to undergraduate information literacy initiatives in face-to-face and virtual environments.
Essential Functions:

Oversees Special Collections services functions such as, but not limited to, developing and maintaining policies and procedures, preservation, processing, digitization, online and face to face exhibits and displays, finding aids and catalog records creation, Special Collections instruction and tours, grant writing, and outreach.

Confers regularly with supervisor reviewing, suggesting, and developing new Special Collections related activities, policies, procedures and services consistent with the library’s mission.

Trains and manages Special Collections volunteers, service learning students, practicum students, and interns.

Provides reference assistance to patrons.

Participates in the development and implementation of high impact learning activities such as, but not limited to, library instruction, creation of instructional design tutorials related to Special Collections.
Other Functions:

Act as a liaison to assigned academic departments to facilitate collection development.

Serve on university and consortium committees as representative of the library.

Participate in local, regional, or national library community.

Completes other duties assigned in support of the University of Saint Mary’s mission.
Supervision Received
This positions reports to the Library Director.
Minimum Requirements:

Master's of Library Science or equivalent degree from an American Library Association accredited university or college.

Experience working in academic Special Collections or Archival environments; digital collection management, exhibit creation expertise, and grant writing preferred.

Demonstrated customer service experience and strong communication skills.

Experience using MS Office software: Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook.

Creative and analytical thinking.

Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
